Potentialities and Prospects - Agricultural Sector

Most popular type of rice that is Cianjur original called Pandanwangi is developed from the local variety Javonika and its cultivation is confined to the land 700 meters above the sea level. Pandanwangi rice has specific traits such as having the average height of 1 meter, prone to collapse, only harvested twice a year and less responsive to fertilization. It is also vulnerable to virus or pest, very tasty, not decaying and relatively expensive. The sub district of Warungkondang is known to have produced such rice which is sold in many stores in the packages of 5 to 10 kilograms.

The Sprawling green rice fields are everywhere and as for as eyes can see

Apart from the popular Pandanwangi rice, such produces as carrot, red chillies, onions, cabbages and other are also promising thanks to their state as daily kitchen neccesities and their easy marketing along the economic and trade traffic lines of regional West Java. Jakarta markets have been flooded with those produces coming from the sub districts pf Pacet, Cipanas, Sukaresmi and Cugenang within a distance of about 80 kilometers from Jakarta and about 20 Km west of Cianjur town centre.

The agropolitan concept introduced  jointly by the Central Government and the Regional Government is intended to develop agribusiness in those areas to the best possible level so that they become effective, efficient vegetable  producing areas.
