The story of Ayam Pelung began in 1850 in a Village called Bunikasih, Sub district of Warungkondang. Once upon a time there was a farmer who was also a religious teacher or kiayi

Named H. Djarkasih or more popularly known as Mama Acih found a young male hen in his garden and took care of it accordingly. It grew up fast physically and uttered a melodious voice. Mama Acih called it Ayam Pelung and he cross - bred it with an ordinary female hen.
