Cianjur Enchantment - Gunung Padang Archaeological Site
 



Gunung Padang Archaeological site is located in Gunung Padang and Panggulan area at Karyamukti village, Campaka, Cianjur. It is the biggest megalithic site in South East Asia. People around the location believe that the place is an effort  of the sovereign of Siliwangi in building a palace on  one night.

The existence of this site was written on the report of Rapporten van de oudheid kundigen Dienst  (ROD) in 1914, also reported by NJ. Krom, in 1949. In 1979 the officials of Ditlinbinjarah, Pulit Arkenas observed the area. By that time, the research  of  Gunung Padang archaeological, historically, and geological.

This site is located 50 km from Cianjur. It's a kind of holy   place which stairs as  ways  to  reach up. All of the area is contain of stones of massive volcanic rectangular. Those stone blocks spread and almost cover the top  mount Padang area. The local people of surrounding  area named some stones like Kiai Giling Pangancingan table, Eyang Bonang chair, Jojodog  Eyang Swana, Syeh Suhaedin alias Syeh Abdul Rusman, Stairs of Syeh Marzuki, and Syeh Abdul Fukor stone.
