The development of plantation sector in Cianjur Regency plays an important
role in contributing the state's devise, in providing raw materials for
industry, in creating job opportunities, in stimulating regional development
and in preserving natural resources and environment.
Therefore, the role of plantation sector is crucial. The plantations run by
community / or individual, private companies or state companies are all
being developed and facilitated in order to contribute significantly to the
improved Human Development Index (HDI) from year to year.

Tea platation is worked on a land of about 51.000 hectares scatteringing the middle and

Sukanagara, Takokak, Kadupandak and Campaka, rubber from Cikalongkulon,
Sukaresmi and Cibeber, coconut from Agrabinta, Cidaun and Sindangbarang,
clove from Cibinong, Cibeber and Warungkondang, coffee from Sukaresmi,
Cibinong and Cikadu.
Besides the chief commodities mentioned above, there are also vanilla, sugar
palm and castor which are equally potential. Castor-based oil can function
as bio fuel.
However, the area of land worked on by larger plantations has been dwindling
as much as 3.680,69 hectares due to a function switch from plantation to
other uses and because of the expiration of a lease or processing permit
held by larger private plantations.
Despite the obstacles as such, the government of Cianjur Regency keeps on
trying to enlarge land area for plantations along with & more and more
investments on the field of plantations.
